Italian Red Wines Streaming Course
Description of the activity
If you want to discover what is behind a "simple" glass of red wine, this is the ideal course for you! The first module of the approaching wine class is dedicated to "Italian red wines," and we will go through a course aimed at discovering what is behind the production process of a red wine, and then move on to an analysis of the territory, grape varieties and iconic wines of the regions that are most distinguished for the production of great red wines. The second lesson is dedicated to an in-depth look at the red wine production process: we will learn what red wine making is, how red wine is made and what grapes are most used to produce it; we will then see what the general characteristics of a red wine are, from color to aromas, from alcohol content to tannin. We will then move on to an analysis of the most interesting regions in terms of red wine production, and for each we will go into detail about the territory, grape varieties and iconic wines of each region. In the third lesson we discuss Piedmont, a region that stands out for producing red rather than white wines, making great use of native grape varieties. In the fourth lesson we move to Tuscany, which produces 90 percent red wines and is home to Sangiovese, the basis of some of the world's best-known wines, including Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Nobile di Montepulciano. From Tuscany we move on to the Veneto, more specifically to Valpolicella, and in the fifth lesson we will discuss Valpolicella DOC, Amarone della Valpolicella, Ripasso and Recioto. In the sixth lesson we will analyze the wines of central and southern Italy, encompassing Abruzzo, Campania and Puglia in one segment. The last lesson is dedicated to Sicily, a region that has played a fundamental role in the development of the Italian wine world, since most of the grape varieties present in Italy, were brought to Sicily by the Greeks during long and successive migrations. The course consists of recorded video lectures that remain available on one's profile within the Acadèmia platform that can be watched as many times as one wishes at any time from any device.
